John
Storm comes face to face with a giant prehistoric insect, in a
nightmare.
The
'Insectaraptors' are a very dangerous species, that became isolated in
Antarctica, having wiped out the Dinosaurs.
Their natural biological enemy is the 'Sectasaur.' The Sectasaurs
successfully trapped these Raptors in Antarctica. Where they were frozen
in time, until global
warming, thawed out the ice caps, North and South poles.
In
the sequel to "Sectasaur," Lin Pop Chang, returns to
Antarctica, when he discovers a clutch
of frozen eggs that he mistakes for Sectasaur eggs. He incubates one of
them, a queen, who lays fresh eggs that hatch in the warmer climate. The hatchling
Insectaraptors attack and eat Chang's crew.
The
Insectaraptors then go on the rampage, starving and hungry for food,
they attack the crew of the Elizabeth Swann, boarding the vessel at
anchor, where a battle continues in the Southern Ocean. That,
fortunately for John, Charley and Dan, they are able to fend off, with
the able assistance of Hal, and the ship's defenses: Merlin, Excalibur
and Pendragon.
That
leave John and crew with a big problem. Back on mainland Antarctica, a
menace to humanity is now alive and waiting for any expeditionary
visitors to provide a way off the island, to colonize the known world,
from the bottom of the world to the top.

Dinosaurs
retreated to the farthest corners of the world as the impromptu ice age
enveloped the world, thought by many scientists to have been triggered
by collision with an asteroid. If being hunted by Insectasaurus Rex,
especially in social packs, Tyrannosaurus Rex and Velociraptors would
not have stood a chance. That is because ants are exoskeleton in design,
whereas fossil remains confirm most large dinosaurs to be endoskeleton.
That single feature, coupled with the speed of an insect, and their
fearsome sting, would have seen the demise of any large food source, as
Sectasaur numbers grew. The Bulldog ant from Australia, can jump as fast
as a man can run. And their sting will paralyze any human foolish enough
to get in the way.
