John Storm comes face to face with a giant prehistoric insect, in a nightmare.

Cathy Carter is a time served Arctic and Antarctic explorer, familiar with both polar caps. She qualified as a medical doctor, to give her a convincing cover, completing her thesis on research into human biology in sub-zero temperatures. She is also a covert operative for the CIA, working alongside Canadian interests, posing as an explorer or doctor, as the occasion demands.

In the Sectasaur adventure, Cathy is the leader of an international group of scientists, who do not know of her secret mission, to bring back intelligence on any fossil finds of significance, and to prevent the Chinese and Swedish, but mainly Lin Po Chang, from gaining any advantage over the United States. Whatsoever that may be.

She sometimes works alongside Jack Mason. But keeps that to herself, because she knows John Storm would view his involvement as highly suspect, and therefore cast a shadow on her own motives.

Dr. Alice Jones is a member of Cathy’s team and a renowned paleontologist. She is the scientist who identified the fossilized jaw of the giant ant. She is based on the actress Emma Watson.

Dr. Sam Smith is another member of Cathy’s team and a geneticist. He is the one who extracted the DNA from the fossil and recreated the giant ant. He is based on the actor Benedict Cumberbatch.

James (Jimmy) Watson is a land based member of Cathy’s team stationed in Montreal, and a former journalist. He leaks information about the tunnel complex to the media, when she is shot and then rendered unconscious. James is based on the actor Tom Holland.
